How to renew a public weighbridge licence

If you are interested in continuing to operate a public weighbridge and conduct public weighings, you are required to renew your public weighbridge licence. An application does not commence until payment of the required fees have been paid.

You must also supply an application form and other documents which are listed below.

It is a condition on all Public Weighbridge Licences that at least one operator must hold a statement of attainment for weighbridge operation.

Make a payment

Public weighbridge renewal licences cost $350 per year and can be granted for typically up to 3 years.

Check the fees according to your specific licence application requirements.

To make a payment, please contact tmlicensees@measurement.gov.au or 1300 686 664 (option 2).

Your application commences once your application fee has been paid.

Application forms

Follow these steps to complete your application:

  1. Complete Form A – Provide your business details
  2. Complete Form C – Provide your employee (operator) details
  3. Provide Statement of Attainment (SOA)
Weighbridge operators are required to complete a recognition kit to gain a Statement of Attainment. A SOA is required for at least one weighbridge operator.
  4. Provide Verification Certificate
Public weighbridges are required to be verified every 12 months. Verification certificates are to be issued by a Servicing Licensee.
  5. Get a National Police Check (NPC)
The required NPC is a ‘Standard or Disclosable Outcomes Check’ (NOT a ‘Fingerprint’ or ‘Working with Children check’) and must be less than 12 months old. This is required for each of the principals of the business, including all directors and partners. An application for an NPC can be made online through your state police website or in person at your local police station.
  6. Submit your application with proof of payment to tmlicensees@measurement.gov.au.
